If your child will be absent from school please call the school at 717-885-1250. You may call anytime prior to 10:00 a.m. and leave a voicemail on the attendance line.
When the student returns from being absent they have 3 days to turn in a signed excuse blank. If the excuse is not turned in within 3 days the absence will be unlawful.
After a student accumulates 3 unlawful absences, the school is responsible to:
* Develop a Truancy Elimination Plan in partnership with the student and parent/guardian.
* Notify the district magistrate and/or Children and Youth Services of all subsequent unlawful absences.
If a student accumulates 10 absences (excluding preapproved educational trips, death in family, or religious holidays), the school will require that all subsequent absences be excused by a physician.
Your child is expected to arrive at school between 8:30 a.m. and 8:40 a.m. and in the classroom before 8:45 a.m. each day. Students arriving at 8:45 a.m. or later will be marked tardy unexcused unless arriving from a scheduled appointment with a note from doctor. Seven unexcused tardies will result in 1 unlawful absence from school.
If a student arrives late for any other reason it is considered tardy unexcused.
Any student arriving after 10:15 a.m. or leaving before 2:00 p.m. will be considered a ½ day absence and will require a signed excuse card.
A student is allowed up to request an Educational Trip (maximum of five days) during the school year. A trip form is available in the school office and must be completed and approved two weeks prior to the trip.
