February is Kindness Month at Yorkshire:

 

 

We are excited about adding an international component to our kindness project.  Dr. Stoltz recently read the book, Beatrice's Goat to our Yorkshire students.  This is a true story about how a young girl from Uganda was able to attend school from the money her family raised from a goat given to them from Heifer International.  (Visit www.heifer.org for more details.)  Our goal is to raise enough money to send a goat or other animals to help other needy families. 

A very special thank you to Mrs. Joanne Day (shown above with "Lucky" our goat) for making this realistic goat for our students to put their spare change from home into throughout Kindness month.  He has become a special part of our story and school.

 

We can learn a lot about kindness from our children!

 

 

 
     

Modified Kindergarten

In the event of a two-hour delay, the Modified Kindergarten Program would operate as follows:

 

A.M. KINDERGARTEN

The A.M. Kindergarten students would report to Yorkshire for classes that will begin at approximately 10:45 A.M.  Buses will arrive at their stops two hours later than normal (e.g. 10:08 A.M. instead of 8:08 A.M.)  The A.M. Kindergarten classes will run from approximately 10:45 A.M. to 12:25 P.M. on days of Modified Kindergarten. 

P.M. KINDERGARTEN

The P.M. Kindergarten students would report to Yorkshire for classes that will begin at approximately 1:50 P.M.  The P.M. Kindergarten classes will run from approximately 1:50 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. on days of Modified Kindergarten.

 IT'S TIME TO REGISTER

 FOR THE 2012-2013 SCHOOL YEAR!!

 

Age Requirements:

 

* Children who are now five years old or will have reached their fifth birthday before September 1, 2012, are eligible to enroll for kindergarten in the coming school year.

 

*Children who are now six years old or will have reached their sixth birthday before September 1, 2012, are eligible to enroll for first grade.  (If your child is already attending Yorkshire Elementary as a kindergarten student, it will not be necessary to register them as a first grader.)

 

How to Register:

 

Step 1 - You will need to create an account with a user name (your email address) and password for this system.  This information is used strictly to permit you to save all your information and complete or print the forms later.

 

If you do not wish to complete this information online, you do have the option to print a blank packet of forms that can be completed by hand.  If you cannot print the forms, and would like them mailed to you, please call 717-885-1230.  Please do not sign the forms.  You will need to sign all forms during your appointment.  You will need to provide a picture ID when signing forms.  Please complete the attached Physical Exam Report and Dental Exam Report and bring with you to Kindergarten Registration.  See the attached notice from the Nurse's Office for further instructions.

Sealant Saturday!

Dear Yorkshire Families:

 

Please see the attached flyer for more information on Dental Sealant Saturday at the York County School of Technology. 

Dental Sealant Saturday - March 3, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.  Free oral exams, dental sealants, and fluoride varnish for children ages 6-17 will be provided.  Patients will be seen on a first come first serve basis.

New Student Packet

You can now download your "new student" packet and help save the district on mailing costs.  The forms are also quicker to complete on your computer than with a pen! 

 

The checklist on page 1 will help you identify what forms need to be returned.  The forms in the packet can be completed on your computer and printed (they cannot be saved).  Many forms are linked so that you only need to type names and dates once and it will populate most forms.  Please make sure all mandatory forms are completed and returned with your child on the first day of school.
