The holiday season can cause financial stress for families. To alleviate some of the monetary burdens, the York Suburban School District is partnering with two organizations to provide York Suburban families in need with food and other essentials.

Listed below is information about two upcoming opportunities. Please share them with any York Suburban family that may benefit.

York County Food Bank’s Give-A-Meal

If your family has a need and would like to receive a boxed meal to include a turkey and shelf-stable food items, please complete the York County Food Bank Give-A-Meal registration form by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, 2021. Applications will be handled and reviewed by the York County Food Bank. Families must meet specific criteria to receive a boxed meal.

Approved families will pick up their meal boxes at York Suburban High School after 4 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2021. More details will be provided to qualifying, registered families in early December.

York Suburban Education Foundation’s Holiday Food and Coat Distribution

The York Suburban Education Foundation’s Impact Foundation invites any York Suburban family in need to its Holiday Food and Coat Distribution from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2021, in the York Suburban High School’s cafeteria.

During meal pick-up times on the day of the event, the YSEF Impact Foundation’s student and adult volunteers will have a selection of items — e.g. winter outerwear, supplemental food items (including canned goods, dessert mixes, and foil baking pans), holiday gifts, and holiday decorations — available in the cafeteria. The items will be free to any York Suburban family that needs assistance. The supply will be limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis; product availability cannot be guaranteed.
