Elementary Library Media Centers

Overview

The elementary library media programs are designed to ensure that all patrons are effective users of ideas and information enabling them to be literate life-long learners. The programs are supported with funding provided by the school district. The mission is accomplished by the library staff in collaboration with the school community:

  • By providing instruction to foster competence in acquiring and using information and ideas, and in evaluating information resources
  • By stimulating interest in reading and appreciation of literature through group instruction and individual guidance
  • By providing intellectual and physical access to materials in multiple formats
  • By fostering good citizenship in the use and care of library materials and facilities
  • By working with faculty and staff to integrate library skills within the subject areas
  • By working with faculty and staff to design and carry out learning experiences to meet the needs of individual students
