- Call to Order – Mr. Miller

Members Present – Emily Bates, Jennifer Clancy, Ellen Freireich, Lynne Leopold-Sharp, Roger Miller, Lois Ann Schroeder, Joel Sears, Cathy Shaffer
- The purpose of this Special Meeting is to interview candidates, nominate, appoint and swear in a new Board member.
Mr. Miller reported above and stated this is an important decision for the Board. Mr. Miller thanked everyone that applied as candidates for the vacancy on the Board of School Directors.

Mr. Miller provided an overview of the interview process that will be utilized this evening.
- Interview Process – Mr. Miller
- Two minute opening statement from each candidate
Each candidate gave an opening statement.
- Interview questions with each candidate providing a very brief response (1 1/2 mins)
Candidates provided responses to four questions.
- Thirty second closing statement from each candidate
Each candidate provided a closing statement.
Mr. Miller announced that the Board will take a five minute break. (8:28 PM to 8:33 PM)

- Nomination(s) from the Board – Mr. Miller
- Nomination(s) will be made by Board member(s).
Mr. Miller reconvened the meeting at 8:33 PM.
Mr. Miller announced that nominations are opened.
Mrs. Clancy nominated Emily Clark.
Ms. Bates nominated John Posenau.
Mr. Sears nominated Gregory Potts.
Mrs. Shaffer nominated Joshua Carney.
Mr. Miller announced that nominations are now closed.

An opportunity was provided for public comment. There was none at this time.

Candidate Emily Clark – Roll Call Vote, Bates-no; Clancy-yes; Freireich-yes; Schroeder-no; Shaffer-no; Miller-no; Sears-no; Leopold-Sharp-yes – Nomination did not pass (3-5).Candidate John Posenau – Roll Call Vote, Sears-no; Schroeder-yes; Clancy-no; Shaffer-yes; Freireich-no; Bates-yes; Leopold-Sharp-yes; Miller-no – Nomination did not pass (4-4).
Candidate Gregory Potts – Roll Call Vote, Leopold-Sharp-no; Sears-yes; Clancy-yes; Miller-yes; Shaffer-no; Schroeder-no; Bates-no; Freireich-no – Nomination did not pass (3-5).
Candidate Joshua Carney – Roll Call Vote, Sears-no; Shaffer-yes; Leopold-Sharp-no; Freireich-no; Clancy-no; Miller-yes; Bates-yes; Schroeder-yes – Nomination did not pass (4-4).
Mr. Miller reported no candidate received five votes and per solicitor we will now vote on the two candidates that received the most votes – John Posenau, Joshua Carney.
- Five votes are necessary for a nomination to carry
Candidate John Posenau – Roll Call Vote, Schroeder-yes; Leopold-Sharp-yes; Bates-yes; Freireich-yes; Sears-yes – Nomination passed with 5 votes.
- Nomination(s) will be made by Board member(s).
- Swearing in of New Board Member (by Mrs. Wendy Erwine, Notary Public)
John Posenau was sworn in as a member of the York Suburban School District Board of School Directors for the term to expire December 2015.
- Public Comment
An opportunity was provided for public comment. There was none at this time.
Mr. Miller congratulated each candidate for their participation in the process this evening and encouraged all the candidates to consider running in the next election where five Board members will be elected. The Board is looking forward to working with Mr. Posenau.
Mrs. Schroeder added that at least three sitting board members currently were passed over in a similar interview process and pursued running in the election and have given long-standing service to the District. Mrs. Schroeder asked the candidates to consider that.
Mr. Miller concluded the meeting by thanking everyone for participating in the process this evening.
