Middle School Principal's Message
Dear York Suburban Middle School Families,
My name is Scott Shirey, and I’m very excited to introduce myself as your principal. It is with great honor that I serve the community in this capacity. As one of the York Suburban High School Assistant Principals for the past two years, I have witnessed first-hand the dedication to excellence the district has towards the needs of our youth. While I am still overcoming the sadness of leaving the great students, families, and staff of the high school, I’m energized knowing I have the ability to get to know everyone who is part of the middle school and get back to the age group with which I have the most experience.
I started my career at Landisville Middle School in the Hempfield School District twenty-two years ago when I became a seventh grade math teacher. Nine years later, I moved to the Dallastown Area Middle School to be in the same district my son and daughter were attending. While at Dallastown, I spent many years as an instructional coach to middle school teachers and overseeing multiple curricular areas until becoming the Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction for the district. Two years ago, I was blessed to join the York Suburban staff.
As you get to know me, you’ll see that I’m passionate about setting high expectations and doing what’s best for students. I promise to treat your student with the same care and compassion as one of my own children. My hope is that together we form a partnership that will help your student navigate all the complexities of being a middle school student.
If you would like to discuss anything with me, please feel free to stop by the building or give me a call. I welcome the input and look forward to a great school year.
