Welcome to York Suburban High School

Welcome to the York Suburban High School website! As you explore our site, you’ll quickly discover why our staff and community are so proud of our school.

York Suburban High School is consistently recognized as one of the most outstanding schools in the area, state, and nation. We are incredibly proud of our recent U.S. Department of Education recognition as a Blue Ribbon School in the category of Exceptionally High Performing Schools. Additionally, York Suburban High School is perennially named to U.S. News and World Report’s Best High Schools and the College Board's AP Honor Roll.

What is the secret to our success? It’s our philosophy, built from our former district tagline: A Community of Encouragement. A Culture of Excellence. While many successful organizations have a culture of excellence, the way they achieve it can be very different. At York Suburban, we reach that excellence through our Community of Encouragement. We are also inspired by our new mission: Inspiring a BOLD Future. We are proud of our accomplishments, but we are also continually looking to redefine ourselves and meet the evolving needs of our students and society.

We expect all students to put forth their best effort, both inside and outside of school. These high expectations lead to our students being accepted into and attending some of the nation’s best colleges and universities. Our teams and individuals consistently win local and state honors in athletics, music, and the arts—programs that are envied by other schools our size.

This excellence is a direct result of our Community of Encouragement. We never set a high standard without a plan to support and encourage our students. We focus on growth as much as we do on achievement, celebrating the progress students make every step of the way. Our teachers, coaches, and advisors dedicate time both during and after the school day to provide precise, individualized feedback and continuous encouragement as students pursue their goals.

We also build programs to support and encourage excellence outside the classroom. From our Biology “Boot Camp,” held after school for students preparing for Keystones, to the Trojan Learning Center—staffed by multiple teachers every period—to our Link Crew that helps freshmen acclimate to high school life, we embed encouragement and support in everything we do.

Our students also provide support to one another through our Impact Foundation. This student-led nonprofit organization was founded on the premise that many students lack basic human needs, such as food, clothing, and shelter. Its mission is to raise funds and resources to meet every student’s basic needs so they can focus on their education.

Some may consider it a cliché, but there is a genuine Culture of Excellence and a BOLD future in everything we do at York Suburban High School. We are successful because we partner this culture with a Community of Encouragement that actively supports all our students and staff in their quest to be the best they can possibly be.
